Jeff Peachey + Shanna Leino Herringbone Leather Paring Knife

$495.00

Jeff Peachey designs, makes and sells the finest tools for bookbinders, conservators and leatherworkers. It’s true.

Needless to say I felt honored when he asked if I’d collaborate on a few blades with him. Yes, please! So he sent them to me, and I’ve dragged them around for about two years. Maybe longer. Shameful. Anyway he thought they were LOST. But no. Here they are, with etched blades (made from the HARDEST steel!) and handles, housed in a smooth horse butt leather sheath dressed up with cold tooling.

Two are available, one etched with a herringbone pattern, the other with triangles.

Overall length is approximately 6.5” long and the blade tip is about 1.75”.

Jeff Says:

These are a unique shape, basically an ergonomic French style knife with a wider cutting edge than my regular wood handled ones, here.

A2 steel, RC 62. Ebony handle. 13 degree bevel on the cutting edge. The primary bevel is quite long, and there is a tiny ~2mm secondary cutting edge. The advantage of this is that very little steel needs to be removed when stropping, and eventually resharpening.

All the knives I make are fully hand sharpened, come with handles and a blade cover, and are ready to roll from the moment you get them. These are the sharpest, most comfortable, and longest lasting leather paring knives on the market. Everything I sell is guaranteed for life. My  life.

Jeff is also responsible for putting down on paper this commandment. Words to live by.
